Preschool Program

Ages 3 – 5

Our Preschool Program

Concordia’s Preschool program has been a vibrant and integral part of the Northeast Seattle area for many years.

We offer half or full-day classes for children ages 3 through 5 years and are fully licensed by DCYF of WA State. With our dedicated, experienced, and nurturing staff, we are blessed to serve many families.

Curriculum

Concordia’s preschool program is play-based, introducing a more academic curriculum as the children grow older. Our play-based program encourages students to learn new social competencies including self-advocacy, problem-solving, and being relational with others.

Zoo-phonics is used in all three classes to help students gain prereading skills. Students have Physical Education and Music each week taught by specialist teachers.

More details on the curriculum are provided in class descriptions.

Classes

Teddy Bear (3 year olds)

Age 3 before August 31st

Overview: The Teddy Bear class is focused on helping students learn the social, emotional, and independence skills needed to be great students, along with early academics in a warm and loving environment. The early academics include colors, shapes, ABCs, and the “Zoophonics” early phonics program.

Enrollment Options: Half-day and full-day options, from 2-5 days per week.

Bumble Bee (4 year olds)

Age 4 before August 31st

Overview: In addition to play centers, each student in the Bumble Bee class meets in small group with the teacher every week for focused learning on pre-reading skills, letter and number recognition and current events in our Scholastic “Let’s Find Out” lessons.

Enrollment Options: Half day and full day options from 3-5 days per week.

Giraffe (4.5 – 5 year olds)

Age 5 before December 31st

Overview: This “fives” program is a great option for students who will turn five by December of the school year. The curriculum is geared for 5-year-old students with summer birthdays who may benefit from an extra “bonus” year of preschool as well as older 4 ½ year old preschool students who are ready for a more academic learning environment.

While the academics are more rigorous than our typical preschool class, the learning environment is play-based and dynamic, with free choice play center time, creative art projects, and also offers foriegn language.

Enrollment Options: Half-day and full day, either 4 days (Monday through Thursday) or 5 days per week

Facilities

Our beautiful, large classrooms are filled with natural light and we offer a play-based relational curriculum that is geared toward the individual child’s development and learning style.

We also enjoy a dedicated recess time for large motor activity in our 1/2 acre outside playground area and on rainy or cold days we have access to our full-sized gymnasium.

Summer Camp

Concordia offers state-licensed summer programs mid-June through mid-August, with weekly enrollment. Concordia students and children from the community are invited to join us.
